Many projects here none too difficult other than the upholstery.
General tune up pieces other than points cap and rotor that look new. Front suspension bushings for the sway bar and steering rack. Transmission mount, plug wire holder clips, lower radiator hose and.... a full upholstery kit for the seats. Those seats are in really bad shape. This thing is going to be so sharp when done.

They actually look incredibly good . I only see one actual foam repair if the old stuff separates as cleanly as it looks capable of.
How long have you owned this?

An upholstery kit where they give you the covers AND foam? Incredible!

I’ve had the car in my care for about 1 year. My dad bought it not running in Napa California in 2005. He has gotten through most of the serious mechanical things.

Believe me the seat kits were not cheap. I think since they made so many S30’s and the seats didn’t really change between 70-78 some odd ball things like the foam is still available.

I’m looking forward to not sitting in a hole. Nothing like hot vinyl in the summer.

I can only imagine it cost a decent amount. But with how those seats look, they’re worth the price. You’re already ahead of me in t he seat restoration area too!
I especially like the eyelets on the rear portion. I still don’t know if they serve a function, but they look cool!

I’ve never done that, I am going to get some seats from Classic Car Seats:

Those look really nice. I better get a second Z so I can do a race car build too.

They have many styles and will do whatever you want, I was trying to get that period look. My seats are not comfortable anymore, the vinyl is ok but the foam is shot. I have a few I looked at, this one is probably the one.

A couple of times over the years I’ve bought passenger seats and repurposed them to replace a worn-out driver seat.

One of my automotive dreams is to some day have an opportunity to drive one of the Z-cars. And a Trans-Am from around 1978 with the 400 CID/4 SP. I am also waiting for a chance to drive a Kia Stinger Base model...

Of the numerous cars I have driven the Datsun Z is one of the few that lives up to the hype. It is light, agile, quick, and an amazing engaging driving experience. They are also quite easy to drive. No strange quirks or gizmozs, just get in, start it up and drive like a nor mal car. I have been disappointed by cars like the Mustang, RX-8, and others that had a look but really couldn’t back it up with performance or experience .

I drove a newish Z-28 not too long ago. The owner knew I’d wring it out, but what I found was that with all I could make it do, it really wasn’t very impressive. Probably the most excitement I’ve had trying out a car would be the Tesla P85 Model S. That thing was F A S T.
